Topic subtitle

Anyway, this is regarding recruitment. Should we keep it open or should we close up for now? Well, there are many ways of looking at this. And herein comes the topic title. What is the mission of Machine Shop? I present to you the objectives for keeping recruitment open and closing it.

The issue with keeping it open is that our scrim line up for tdm and ctf is pretty much set. Thrasher, Solid Snake and myself make a pretty solid 3 v 3 team, and we have some pretty good options for a 4th player. I can't really pull one of them off the line up.

HOWEVER

Keeping recruitment open for more people is a good thing in that we can have a scrim team ready at any given time. This requires more training, but this coincides with the next idea.

Are we a clan that is here for weaker players to get better and more experienced? I know I was weak as hell player before I came here. However, this may mean losing scrims. I, for one, do not care about losing scrims to higher level skilled clans - the only time I get pissed at losing is against teams I know we are perfectly capable of beating. However, I don't know your guys' take on that.

We can recruit people for practices, I have no issue with this and I think this is good. But they have to understand that they won't be scrimming anytime soon. I wouldn't mind training new players enough to start their own clan and that gives us more competition.

Also, I dunno your guys take on the mapping part, but I don't mind leaving mapping recruitment open. When we have more mappers, we can pull off the bullshit of 32 map mega wads, rather than having 5-6 mappers do multiple maps packs of 10-12 maps

Closing recruitment

Obviously this means no more mappers and no more testing and shit.

Well, if I can't test people that means I can't test for new blood and if a good player wants to join, I'm inclined to let him or her in. I don't know if you guys want to take this route, but I don't.

Bottom line is, should we keep recruitment open or should we close it? And how should we go about testing skill?

I like the idea of MS as a staging area - like an academy. We're not the best out there, but we're willing to help, and improve together.

Stalin, you just won the internet. I hereby promote you to Advisor and Recruitment Manager. May the force be with us all. Very Happy

I'm all for more mappers, certainly. I like your ideas for recruiting weak players as well. Closing recruitment all together is a bad idea. A few people I've talked to say that MS is certainly a group of nice people, and that we have a lot of potential.

I can deal with them. I trained myself to map a LOT better Razz
So it doesn't really matter, though I would stick to the recruiting in an area where you can do both together without being too occupied.
